the great wall of emericasa

With the rising immigration angst in that country south of us, I thought it fitting to chime in.

How do you like them immigrant-picked strawberries?

What to do with millions of people you exploit and degrade, while using as a scapegoat for a variety of economic, social and administrative ailments?

Send 'em back. Hire more rentacops. Build a wall. Get GIJoes with bigger guns to guard the wall. Then find other poor people to exploit. Lastly, do nothing about disparity. To keep them poor.

If they stick to that plan, you needn't worry. The price of your strawberries won't go up.

  1. Yes, but colonialism doesn't work if the colonial servants are permitted to come back to the metropole. Also, free-trade cannot be effectively exploited if it permits free movement of people as well as goods. What good is having cheap manufacturing bases in the third world if people are allowed to leave? Nope, best to talk about and revere Adam Smith, but never read him.

P.S. I noticed you also hate U2, thereby excluding yourself from ever becoming a youth pastor. I heartily agree. U2 verily sucketh, and without a digital delay pedal the Edge would sound like Mickey Mouse. Somebody needs to tell the people that U2 just isn't good, 'the Emperor has no clothes!' Also, what kind of pretentious dunder-head would call himself 'the Edge'? Do you suppose he makes his wife call him that? "Thanks for washing up, the Edge." "The Edge, would you please pass the salt?".

    Ciao!

  2. Drew, you kill me. That was definitely the best "review" of U2 I've ever read.

  4. The attempt to control and document the flow of immigrant labourers in the U.S. will have only one possible result: their wages will rise. It is the willingness of employers to hire them cheap, and their own desperate willingness to be exploited, which have brought the situation to its present chaos and drive the engine that "keeps them poor." Instead of the classic America-bashing screed you might try some thoughtful and informed comment.
